Senior Manager of Revenue Recognition Accounting

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Revenue Accounting Manager to lead our revenue accounting team. This role is critical to ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of revenue recognition and related accounting processes. The Senior Revenue Accounting Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Legal, and Finance, to support the company’s growth and financial objectives.

What you will be doing:

  • Revenue Recognition: Oversee the revenue recognition process in accordance with ASC 606 and other relevant accounting standards. Ensure revenue is recognized accurately and in compliance with GAAP.
  • Month-End Close: Manage the revenue close process, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and review revenue-related financial statements and disclosures for internal and external reporting purposes. Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and support the external audit process.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to streamline revenue accounting procedures and enhance internal controls.
  • System Management: Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of revenue accounting systems, ensuring they are aligned with business needs and accounting standards.
  • Leadership: Manage and mentor the Revenue Accounting and Technical Revenue Accounting teams, providing guidance on technical accounting matters and supporting their professional development.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, Legal, FP&A, and other departments to provide guidance on revenue-related issues, including contract review and deal structuring.
  • Policy Development: Develop and update revenue accounting policies and procedures to ensure they reflect current best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Ad Hoc Projects: Participate in special projects, including system implementations, mergers and acquisitions, and other initiatives that impact revenue accounting.

What you will likely bring:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus on revenue recognition and management. Prior experience in a SaaS or technology company is highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of GAAP, ASC 606, and revenue recognition principles. Advanced Excel and data analysis skills are essential. Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and revenue accounting software.
  • Leadership: Proven experience in leading and managing a team, with the ability to mentor and develop junior staff.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

What could set you apart:

  • Advanced Degree: MBA or Master’s in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Industry Experience: Experience in a SaaS, Software, or technology-related industry is highly preferred.
  • Public Company Experience: Experience in a public company or working with publicly traded clients is a plus.
  • Project Management: Experience in managing large projects, including system implementations and process improvements.
