Reporting directly to the VP of Accounting and Controller, the Cost Accounting Manager will have full ownership of the cost accounting function, while gaining exposure to various aspects of the business. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of cost accounting and general accounting.
What You’ll Do:
- Oversee and manage the cost accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of product costs, inventory, and landed costs.
- Work with the NetSuite team to implement NetSuite inventory modules appropriately for new entities and upgrade the current NetSuite inventory modules.
- Perform in-depth analysis of cost structures, identifying areas for cost optimization, and supporting pricing strategies and profitability analysis.
- Monitor and manage inventory costing and variance analysis, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and industry best practices.
- Work with the supply chain and sourcing functions to establish accurate materials costs, including ensuring landed costs are being appropriately allocated.
- Oversee the preparation and reconciliation of monthly cost accounting close, including cost of goods sold (COGS) and inventory valuations.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards, particularly in a SOX environment, ensuring that processes and controls are in place and operating effectively.
- Continuously review and improve accounting processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, presenting key insights on cost performance to senior leadership.
- Support audits by providing necessary documentation, reports, and analysis related to cost accounting and internal controls.
Who You Are:
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in cost accounting or a related field, with a strong focus on landed cost accounting.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in accounting software, with hands-on experience using NetSuite or similar ERP systems.
- Process & Control Expertise: Demonstrated experience in implementing processes, systems, and controls to improve efficiency and financial accuracy.
- SOX Experience: Preferred experience working in a Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliant environment, with knowledge of internal control frameworks and regulatory requirements.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities with a deep understanding of cost analysis, inventory management, and financial reporting.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of cost accounting and reporting.
Additional Details:
- This is a full-time exempt position headquartered in Denver, Colorado. 2 days in the office.
- Targeted compensation range for this role: $110,000-$140,000/year, dependent upon experience.
